FIFTY CUPS FOR
FIFTY LOST REFUGEES
In 2014, the UN published a heartbreaking list of refugees who lost their lives while seeking asylum, thousands of names, each one a story left untold. 50 Cups for 50 Lost Refugees is a quiet act of remembrance.
I chose fifty names from that list and made a cup for each one, shaping a space for their memory to be held.
Alongside the cups, I created a small booklet recording their names and the places where their lives were lost.
A cup is something we offer to guests, a gesture of care and welcome. These cups, empty and fragile, speak to the lives that were never received, the stories never heard, and the humanity that should never be forgotten.
